Can I create patterns for heavily embellished bridal wear?
Yes. The software lets you mark embroidery zones, heavy zari borders and
embellishment placements
directly on the digital pattern, helping production teams understand placement
requirements.
Does it handle non-standard body measurements?
Absolutely. The measurement engine handles any proportions - including plus
sizes, petite frames, and
unusual bust-waist-hip ratios. It calculates mathematically rather than
interpolating from standard
sizes.
Is it different from the general tailoring CAD software?
The dress module is a specialised extension within Fashion Dot CAD with
additional tools specific to
dress construction - dart manipulation, flare control, sleeve generators - not
available in basic
tailoring modes.
Can I work with my existing paper patterns?
Yes. Digitize existing paper patterns using a digitizer tablet or by scanning
and importing images. Our
team assists with the digitization process during installation.
Which dress styles does the software draft?
Gowns, frocks, A-line and panelled dresses, kids' frocks and party wear, each drafted to the customer's own measurements rather than to a size chart. Neckline, sleeve and back models are chosen separately, so one customer's combination is unlikely to be the next one's.
How is a dress pattern different from a blouse pattern?
A dress carries the fit through the waist and hip as well as the bust, so more measurements matter and the flare has to be calculated rather than judged by eye. That is exactly the part that is slow and error-prone by hand and quick on a computer.
Can I save a customer's dress pattern for a repeat order?
Yes, and that is where most of the time is saved. Measurements are stored against the customer, so a second dress next season fits exactly like the first without re-measuring or redrafting.
