It is a fair question, because almost everything else you print on is an inkjet. The answer
is that a pattern is not a photograph. It is lines, notches and text on plain paper, at
600 x 600 dpi, and none of that needs an ink cartridge full of colour.
The running cost is the point
A dot matrix mechanism uses cartridges that cost very little, and it prints onto ordinary
continuous roll paper bought by the box - no special pattern paper, no coated stock. For a
shop printing patterns every day, the cost per pattern is what decides whether the machine
gets used or sits in the corner while people go back to chalk.
The width is what matters, not the colour
At 15 inches on a continuous roll, length is unlimited - a pattern comes off in one piece
instead of being printed in segments and taped, which is where accuracy is normally lost.
Nine pages a minute is quick enough that printing is never the slow part of the job; the
drafting is, and that is what the software takes over.
It connects over USB 2.0, handles A3 down to A6 and envelope stock as well as continuous
paper, and carries a one-year on-site warranty. It is deliberately the most affordable
entry point into tailoring automation rather than the most capable machine in the
range.
The plans are sized by how much you print, so the honest way to choose is to count what you
actually cut in a week rather than what you hope to.
Five prints a day
The Mini plan works out at roughly 35 a week or 150 a month. For a home tailor or a
one-person shop taking a handful of orders a day, that is the whole workload with room to
spare, and it comes with the blouse module of 8 patterns, 9 neck styles and 7 sleeves, the

Count a reprint as a print
Patterns get reprinted - a customer changes her mind, a sheet tears on the table, a size is
cut wrong. A shop that genuinely prints five patterns a day is not on the edge of five; a
shop that prints four and reprints two is. If your week is closer to the boundary than the
